High-traffic channels can spiral into chaos fast. Slowmode gives you a simple throttle to keep conversations legible and prevent any one member from dominating the feed — without locking the channel down entirely.

Description

The /slowmode command sets Discord’s native slowmode delay on a channel, limiting how often individual members can send messages. The delay can range from 1 second to 21,600 seconds (6 hours). Setting the value to 0 disables slowmode completely and restores normal messaging speed. The change takes effect immediately and applies to all regular members — users with the Manage Messages permission or higher are exempt from slowmode restrictions.

Example Usage

Enable a 30-second slowmode in the current channel:
/slowmode 30
Set a 5-second slowmode in a specific channel:
/slowmode 5 #general
Set a 10-minute slowmode during a busy event:
/slowmode 600 #event-chat
Disable slowmode in a channel:
/slowmode 0 #general
Slowmode is a great lightweight tool during live events, AMAs, or any time a channel sees a sudden spike in traffic. A 10–30 second delay keeps the conversation readable without needing to lock anything down. Don’t forget to set it back to 0 when the event wraps up!
Members with the Manage Messages permission — including most moderator roles — are exempt from slowmode and can post at full speed. This is a Discord platform behaviour and cannot be overridden by Burger Bot.
